Athermalized lenses are a special type of lens that eliminates the effects of heat radiation during photography or videography, providing clearer, more accurate images. But do you know the difference between athermalized lenses and other lenses? Today we're going to explore this question.

Difference between infrared athermal lens and normal camera lens:

A. Lenses are made of different materials

Athermalized lenses are usually made of germanium, a material with a high refractive index. It is transparent only to infrared light and not to visible or ultraviolet light, so this property has led to a wide range of applications for germanium in the infrared field. Normal camera lenses are usually made of optical glass, which refracts light into an image.

B. Lenses are used for different purposes

Athermalized lenses are mainly used for infrared thermal imaging equipment, such as thermal imaging cameras, thermal imaging surveillance, etc. Normal camera lenses are mainly used for imaging and visible light surveillance, etc.

Difference between infrared athermal lens and thermal imaging lens:

Athermalized lens uses sulfur materials, which can automatically correct imaging when the temperature difference changes greatly. Thermal lens generally refers to manual focusing lens, which requires manual focusing when the temperature changes greatly.

Compared with other lenses, athermalized lens has the following significant advantages:

  A. Accuracy: athermalized lenses are able to accurately measure the temperature of the target, avoiding the interference of thermal radiation with image quality.

  B. Reliability: athermalized lenses are designed to be stable, able to work in a variety of environmental conditions and provide consistent results.

  C. Sensitivity: athermalized lenses are able to detect low temperature differences and provide high resolution thermal images.

In conclusion, athermalized lenses are a valuable technology and we recommend further research and application of athermalized lenses for a more efficient and safer working environment.
